We are using Google Classroom as our learning platform. Our teachers conduct an orientation of expectations, rules, and short training.
Every Monday at 8:00 a.m., our teachers will post the Distance Learning Guide (DLG) for the week on their Google Classroom. This guide outlines the assignments, lesson topics, learning objectives, materials, and website links that your child will need for the week.
Teachers will regularly post recorded videos for instruction in core classes, including Catholic Doctrine, Reading, Math, ELA (Writing, Spelling, Grammar), Science, and Social Studies. These videos will be located on the Distance Learning Guide with the date that they will be posted on Google Classroom.
A typical morning for a distance learner should begin at 8:15 a.m. During this time, we expect that the students will:
Check the plan for the week on Google Classroom
Log onto the learning platforms
Watch the videos the teachers have posted
Complete the classwork that is assigned by the teacher
Turn in assignments online
While students may ultimately work at their own pace throughout the week, specific assignments in Math and ELA will have daily due dates.
In the afternoon, we have scheduled a 10-15 minute live video meeting with the teacher. The time will be used to pray together as a class, do a brief check-in with the teacher, and take attendance for the day. This meeting will be recorded, and attendance will be taken. At the daily afternoon check-in, students must be seated at a table or desk and must be wearing a school uniform top or an OLMC sweatshirt.
